Our Mission: Love. Share. Discern.

Our Story of Faith and Inclusion

Hillside United Church is a family-oriented community dedicated to loving God and sharing the gospel of Jesus. We embrace everyone, promoting a sense of belonging and unity among our members.

Hillside United Church was formed in 2024 through the amalgamation of Fairview United Church and Rockingham United Church.

We have served a diverse range of people, from young families to seniors, all seeking spiritual growth and connection within a supportive community.

Core Values

We believe in the foundational principles that guide our community and inspire our mission.

Welcome, Togetherness, Unity

Our community embraces welcome, togetherness and unity. Following Jesus’ command to love and accept one another, we extend open arms to all, fostering authentic, loving relationship. All are welcome. We are one family, diverse yet united, bound together by faith and a shared commitment to serving our communities.

Connection, Belonging, Presence

Our Community embraces connection, belonging and the presence of God. Following Jesus’ way, we know we are part of and belong to God’s beloved creation. We are not alone. We believe: in a good, wise, and loving God; that regardless of socioeconomic status, ethnicity, race, gender, age or sexual orientation every person matters, is valued and loved deeply; in radical hospitality, spiritual nurture, mutual care, respect and dignity.

Discernment, Support, Celebration

Our community embraces discernment, support, and celebration. We gather: to discern God’s will through prayer, scripture, study, and community conversation; to support one another and share one another’s burdens and success; to celebrate life’s blessings, milestones, and God’s presence among us; to express gratitude and joy for the gifts and responsibilities God has given us.

Justice, Generosity, Compassion

Our community embraces the prophetic and transformational work of justice, generosity, and compassion. Connecting our spiritualty to our faith, we seek creative, innovative, practical ways to break down barriers that contribute to injustice wherever it is found. In opening our minds and hearts and hands generously we reflect the love, compassion, and care that Jesus gave to everyone he met

Our Vision Statement:

Hillside United Church has the best of Fairview and Rockingham United Churches. We sing with one voice, praising God with renewed hope, enhanced worship and study, expanded possibilities, and extended community outreach.
As we come together, we are a church of intentional inclusion following the path of Jesus with love, respect, peace, and justice for all.
Our music transcends our walls, promoting outreach and inviting everyone to join the chorus of diverse music that inspires all hearts.
We continue to rejoice that we are not alone, that God is with us, thanks be to God!
